high pressure on pool pop up filters?
I have a polaris caretaker pop up system on my saltwater pool. I have owned it for about 3 years with no problems the pool was built in 2007ish. All of a sudden the pressure is really high on the pop ups. If I bypass it everything works fine (not the pop ups obviously) but if I let it run through the pop ups the pressure spikes and the whole pool system leaks. This happend about a week ago. I cleaned the screen to the pop ups, the skimer basket and the filters which are only a month or so old and no luck the pressure is still off the charts. It is a 5 zone system. The skimmer still works and the spa but the pressure on the whole pool system when running the pop ups is way too high. If you don't know the pop up system sprays water from jets on the bottom of the pool to clean it. Any help will be appreciated.
When the water flows through the pop up it is forced through a small opening to create better spraying action for better cleaning. This will cause high back pressure on the pool equipment. If the pressure is so high that it causes the equipment to leak it is very possible you need to clean your Pool Filter. Cleaning the filter should be done when the when the pressure is 8-10 psi above the start up psi. Start up psi is the filter pressure when the filter is clean.
