Electrical cords - Standard 3-way plug plus another cord coming out of my jacuzzi tub?

I am installing my new to me jacuzzi tub. The pump It has a standard 3-way plug. But it also has another thick wire coming out of the pump attatched with a washer and a nut. What is this cord? Is it a ground? Do I need to install it? How do I install it, and what do I install it to?

The pump has to connect to some sort of control board, or switch, in addition to plugging into an outlet (This should be a dedicated GFCI outlet, by the way)
Some control boards are electrical, and some are pneumatic. Quite often, the buttons that turn it on/off are pneumatic.

I'd suggest you look up your brand/model number, and see if the manufacturer has an owner's manual, or installation/service guide online.

You might also consider calling a local jet tub service/installer to come out and do this for you.
