"Make your own mare milk test kit"?

After reading this topic: http://www.horsegroomingsupplies.com/horse-forums/make-your-own-mare-milk-test-kit-250266.html I have a few questions.

The topic recommends using "AquaChek 5 in 1 Water Quality Test Strips", I don't have those but I do have Baquacil 4-way test strips. They test for pH and alkalinity, so I'm guessing that's what you're looking for when trying to predict foaling through milk? Could I also follow the same directions for a rough estimate in that topic for these strips?

Yes, pretty much any pool test trips will work, and you can use the same instructions, it's just to give you a rough estimate. Remember this is not be all end all but it is usually pretty accurate and great for telling you when you should start getting ready, if your checking often.
Also be looking at the color, consistency, and if your committed, taste of the milk.
