Aquarium water spilled in carpet and carpet padding / pad?
My Marineland Magnum 350 filter developed a crack in the area that houses the impeller. It spilled about 8 gallons of water on the carpet over a ~20 hour period.
Its a brand new wall to wall carpet & pad... the base floor is hardwood. I would really like for its first accident to not be its last. Any reccomendations as far as what to do to prevent it from going from bad to worse? I allready sucked up the water from the carpet with a rug scrubber, but the pad is soaked.
My girlfriend says she can allready smell mold in the area.
When I got a crack in my tank, I invested in a 70 qt dehumidifier.
It worked over a weeks period. I am thinking you don't want to wait that long, it was a SOB keeping water in the tank too.
I am not an expert on this but I did find this if it helps at all.
* Remove water with water extraction vacuum.
* Reduce ambient humidity levels with dehumidifier.
* Accelerate drying process with fans.
