I have removed a cartridge filter from the PCV return line. The male connector broke off that went to the cartridge filter. What is the best way to stop it from leaking?

1)turn pump off if it is running

2)if the equipment is below the level of water,put a threaed plug in your skimmer and also the returns if you have to to stop water to repair leak....if there are no threads,use a rubber expansion plug
