can dog hair ruin a Pool Filter? Pool techs please?
My dad insists on letting my brother's Husky in my Swimming Pool (They live in my house). I looked in the pool filter and all pleated cartridges (not the plastic strainer) were completely clogged with dog hair. It took me over an hour to get all the hair out. I'm worried if the cartridges keep getting clogged like this it will ruin the pool pump since it will have to work harder. I've already had to replace it once, though I don't know if it was because of the dog hair.
I don't think it will necessarily ruin your filter, but you may have to clean your filter more often. They make filter wands (some have brushes) that may make it easier to get the dog hair off. We have many customers with dogs that swim and have not seen a direct relation to pump or filter replacement because of dog hair. Just clean that filter as much as you can.
