my 350 chevy cuts out when i give it gas with the air filter installed?
when the filter is on the truck it cuts out completely almost dead silent but if i take the filter off it runs great perfect in fact. the filter is 14 inch brand new i just rebuilt the engine 1972 4 barrel 350 medium cam but still has STRONG vacuum and its bored 40 over i dont get it
vacuum advanced is perfect i have double checked and the choke is staying open in fact its wedged open now
it has a 4 inch spacer
It has to be the base of the filter is hitting the choke linkage and closing the choke, which would cause a lot of fuel smoke and poor idle.
If it runs fine without the filter installed it can be nothing else. Try a different style of filter or a spacer to raise the filter up off of the top of the carburetor.
