I making a 8 foot X 8 foot square concrete pad It is to hold my 7 foot X 7 foot Hot Tub that weighs 5K?

How thick should the pad be & How much Concrete do I need to Order?

4" concrete holds 3000 lbs per sq ft.....sounds like alot but not thick enough.....5 K weight sounds like a lot for a hot tub, but if it is that then do this:

make a level area where spa will go....form up a 2x4 box 8x8....from the top of the 2x4 form dig down along the inside of the form 8 inches and 12 inches over toward the middle.....all the way around the inside of the form.....then remove 4 inches of the rest of the earth.......this will give u a slab with a footer long the outside.....for good measure u can dig another another 8x12 (like before) down the middle.....this will give u a great foundation for ur spa.......will take about 1 1/4 yds....
