My 25000 gallon saltwater pool is clean now but the salt cell seems to be malfunctioning?

I took some water to get tested at Leslie's and they told me that the salt level was way too high (Almost 7000 vs. 3200) It does not seem to be generating salt to chlorine because I get algae a lot. It reads "low salt" and "inspect cell" and the reading of salt is at 1800 which is totally wrong according to Leslies. I do shock the pool with chlorinating shock (Chlor Brite from Leslie's) once a week, but I have heard that it is not good for a salt system. They also recommended Phos Free, a phosphate killer to prevent algae. What can I do and is it safe to shock the pool or should I go to a Chlorine Free Shock?

you need to clean your salt cell and do this 3 times a year. you can use muratic acid, but i would hire someone to do it once and then watch them so you will know how to do this in the future. you should not need to shock your pool because your chlorine levels should always be good. some salt systems will stop generating chlorine if minerals are to high.

Using Swimming Pool Shock for Pool Upkeep
