What is the average price per pound of ground beef in 2011?

My wonderful boyfriend who is now currently cooking dinner went to the grocery store, which he doesn't normally do. He bought 80% lean ground beef "ON SALE" for $3.99/lb. I say he go ripped off and that is not a sale at all...what do YOU say...?

Depends on the store. Kroger charges more for meat that isn't on sale, and when on sale is close to walmarts usual price. Here at walmart, 80/20 beef is about $2.18 a pound. At the butcher/meat shop, it's about $2.50 - $3.00
