is it ok if my leopard gecko has sand as ground? i had him for a year and hes doin great?

You should replace it. Sand and other loose substrates can cause impaction and kill a reptile. Contrary what the bags say, ALL sand can cause impaction. Calcium sand is not digestible and kills. Just because you gecko has been on sand for a year doesn't make it any better. Sand can slowly build up in the intestines and still cause impaction.

I suggest and highly urge you to switching to slate or any other unglazed tile. Not only tile very safe but it is also cheap. I cover my 29 gallon tank with about 10 bucks. For cleaning all you have to do is wash the tile in the sink and put it back. It doesn't have to be replaces unless it breaks. Tile is also the closest to what leopard geckos live on in the wild. They live on hard packed dirt and rocks not sand like a lot of people think.

You could also use newspaper, paper towel or astro turf. There is also something called reptile carpet you could use but you should be careful because they can rip their nails out with it. If you are using an Under tank heater you also need to make sure the gecko can't get under it and sit right on the glass over the heater as it can burn their feet and stomachs.
Sand and other loose substrates have to be replaced every month and the price can add up.

As i said before I have my gecko on slate tile and love it. Its easy to clean, safe and cheap. It also looks good and less of a pain to clean up. I used to have my gecko on sand but I switched after seeing the website above.
