Hayward Aqua
my brother gave me a hayward Aqua Bug pool vacum and I need to know how to hook it up help?

where do I hook the line up does it go on the skimmer or what I am so confused there was no paper work with it so I did not get a diagram to show me how to hook it up

Look for the hose section with the grey thick end. That's what goes directly on the vac head. The other hose sections attach to this such that the end result is a hose that reaches from your skimmer or in wall suction (if you have one) to the furthest point of the pool, plus at least one 3 foot section of hose. Attach the regulator valve that came with the kit, to the free end of hose and place that end in your skimmer suction or in wall suction. There are either notched , spring type adjustments on the grey regulator model or if you have a blue and white regulator valve in the kit, a rotary adjustment to regulate the amount of suction the vac head gets. Adjust this so that the head begins to move by itself. If you're lucky , you got the suction tester included with your kit and you can use that in front of the regulator to get the recommended flow with very little trial and error. If not, then you'll have to make minor adjustments to the regulator flow to get the unit going right.
One thing with those Haywards. Keep an eye on the screens on the back of vac head. They become clogged easily with fine debris and the result is that the turbine that makes the vac head turn gets next to no water, making the unit travel in a straight line until it hits a wall and gets stuck there. Keep that screen clean and the vac head will do it's proper circling motion. Also make sure you get rid of the air in that hose before hooking it up to your suction line or you'll lose the prime on the pump. It's easy enough to do by holding the free end of hose over a pool return an letting the water push the air out or by letting the vac head drop to the bottom and forcing the hose into the pool to let the water in the hose find it's level pushing the air out the free end.

How Does The Hayward AquaBug Above Ground Pool Vacuum Rate?

The Hayward AquaBug is easily one of the best selling above ground pool vacuums. It is an Automatic Pool cleaner designed for above ground pools with vinyl liners. It works equally as well on both flat bottoms and dished bottoms.

Function
Just as with Hayward's other automatic pool cleaners, such as Diver Dave and Wanda The Whale, the AquaBug is self-propelled. It, in the same way as the others, uses a technology patented by Hayward called SmartDrive, which programs the vacuum to maneuver faster and more efficiently than a great deal of other bottom-roving cleaners, which move around in a random pattern.

Suction
The vacuum mechanism of the AquaBug is vigorous. It sucks up everything from sand and microscopic particles to fallen leaves. If you will be using it to suck up leaves, you may want to invest in a leaf catcher, which will keep your filter from getting clogged. It's an inexpensive investment which will keep you from wasting time unclogging your filter, or, worse, having to make a costly repair.

Design
Similar to Hayward's other cleaners Wanda the Whale and Diver Dave, the AquaBug comes in a distinct color and pattern, which sets it apart from other automatic above ground pool vacuums. Kids love the fun design, which resembles a big red bug - though not a scary bug, but a friendly one. But don't be fooled by its fun exterior; the AquaBug is one of the best automatic cleaners you could buy.

Equipment
The Hayward AquaBug works with a standard above ground pool filtration system, so it is not necessary to buy an additional booster pump. This is good because it conserves energy, and therefore, of course, saves money on electricity bills.

Safety
One of the most important things about the AquaBug, as well as with most other automatic above ground pool vacuums, is that it keeps the pool clean with its powerful suction ability instead of by using unhealthy chemical cleansers. Too many chemicals in the water can cause poor health effects. This is especially important if children will be swimming in the pool, since the immune systems of children are not as strong as are adults' immune systems.
