Can anyone help me with a Swimming Pool question? I have very couldy water!?

Hi, I'd love some help. We have an 18 x 48, intex Above Ground Pool with a Filter System. Recently, I've noticed the water got very cloudy. I've checked all the chemical levels. We just filled it 2 weeks ago. I did the shock treatment twice, I've added clarifier, algecide & plenty of liquid chlorine...plus I also have a floater of the chlorine tablets. I changed the filter, & I've vacuumed every day this week. I've been running the filter for about 12 hours a day (I don't turst leaving it plugged in while we're @ work). We live in Ohio & the past few days we got significant amount of rain. I would love any suggestions that I haven't tried already. Thanks :)

First of all, you should take a water sample to a pool supply store. Most test it for free. That will tell you the problem.

Cloudy water if a darker shade, may be unkelated metal. Products like "metal b gone" will clear that up. Put that in when filling is the best. Clearing it up is more difficult.

Otherwise, it sounds like you are doing the right thing, except, you may not be running the filter long enough to clear it up. After it clears, you can run it less.

Some other ideas from websites: "Cloudy swimming pool water can be the result of one of a number of factors.

The cloudy pool water could be caused by an excessive amount of dust or pollutants in the water.

High doses of pool chemicals such as calcium hypochlorite (unstabilised or shock chlorine) can cause a high salt level in the pool resulting in cloudy, milky pool water.

Milky pool water may also be from an excessively high stabiliser (cyanuric acid) level in the swimming pool.

If you have cloudy pool water, the first step is to determine the cause before attempting to solve the problem and clarify the pool water.

Happy swimming."

And from this website: http://www.wikihow.com/Diagnose-and-Clear-Cloudy-Swimming-Pool-Water

Test the swimming pool water for Combined Chlorine, pH, Alkalinity and Calcium Hardness. The two areas that are most likely to cause cloudy pool water are the pH and the Calcium Hardness.
If the pool chemical levels are not within the following suggested ranges, adjust and run the Pool Filter system for 12-24 hours before re-testing. Free Chlorine: 1-3 ppm, pH: 7.2 – 7.6, Alkalinity: 80 – 120 ppm and Calcium Hardness: 200 – 350 ppm.
If all the pool chemical levels test in range, the cloudy pool water is caused by fine debris suspended in the pool water. You should backwash or clean your pool filter following the manufacturer’s instructions, and run the pool filter system continuously for 24 to 48 hours.
If the water conditions have not significantly improved you should add a clarifier pool chemical to the pool water to help your pool filter remove the fine debris from the water. Continue filtering for 12 to 24 hours.
If the water conditions have not significantly improved you should add a second dose of clarifier, or a stronger clarifier chemical and continue to run your filtration system.

Hope this does the trick and good luck.
