How to connect anything to a motor shaft?
Lets say i have a smooth cylindrical motor shaft, without welding how would you go about connecting anything to it ie gears, propellers, wheels, etc etc?
Basically whenever the motor turn i want what ever is connected to the shaft to turn at the same rate.
There may be some simple mechanical devices that do it but i can't think of the name.
Lovejoy ( http://www.lovejoy-inc.com ) calls theirs "shaft locking devices" which I suppose is a pretty generic name. A number of manufactures make devices to do what you want, with various trade names. In the famous McMaser Carr catalog they call one version a "Quick-grip screw-clamp bushing" and another version "heavy duty screw-clap bushings". "Keyless bushing" is another name, which seem to be preferred by Fenner ( http://www.fennerdrives.com/keyless_bushings/keyless_locking_devices.asp ) who makes the "Trantorque" brand name devices.
