whats the proper way to take down an intex pool?

i have an 18 x 24 above ground oval intex pool. I am wanting to take it down now, but not sure the proper way. I heard to maybe put bleach in the pool water and scrub as its draining? what is the best way so i dont have a horrible smell when its done. I also have a shop vac that i can use when its really low. should i drain most of the water out, then do it? when do i take the poles out of the side? when its completly empty?
the dvd just says to put the adapter in and drain the water, then dry it. but i have read on different sites people complain of smells, i thought someone said to add bleach as i am draining it. i just wanted to find some tips before i started the process.
