Are you REQUIRED to fence a pool if you have a fenced in yard?

I have a four foot fence around the house, I do not have slef latching gate I have a regular fence gate with a regular latch.

Here in California, your fenced in yard will be all that is required if it is 60" tall and your gates swing out and are self latching. There are other requirements about alarms on access doors to the pool area and garage access doors being self closing and an additional latch.

Generally, if you have an interior fence around the pool then you don't have to have the above requirements.

Check with your city to see what their codes are. Quite often they have a website with the information on it.
