How can i decorate my pool area for a party?

i am celebrating my 13th birthday and its a pool party. it will be at night so how can i decorate the pool and the area around it? i am thinking along the lines of ballons in the pool (they float i think) and fairy lights around the fence.

any other ideas are much appreciated.

put music on put beach towels on the grass and umbrellas try buying pool things if u have a deck hang ribbons from it and if u are eating outside u should put out a table and put beach towels as a table cloth u can buy fish themed bowls and cups and plates to serve food in

Host a New Year's Day pool party

You want to do something unique to celebrate 2011, but what can you do? Everyone you know is having a New Year's Eve party complete with appetizers, alcohol and the big ball drop at midnight. You opted out of hosting a New Year's Eve party but think you want to host a Happy New Year's Day party. How can you make it different?

Why not have a pool party!? Yes, even if you live in the cooler climates of the country, with a little ingenuity you can have a party even if it's snowy. Send an email to your friends, pick up the phone and text or call them and let them know that you're ringing in the New Year poolside!

Regardless of whether it's warm or chilly, here are a few ideas to ring in 2011 in poolside style. Pick up some floating candles and set the pool surface ablaze with light. Line the pool deck with candles as well. (well, this is if you are hosting a night time party!)

If your New Year's Day partying will take place during the day -- which might be preferable, especially if it's chilly where you are -- you can still add floating candles to the pool but also bring out some space heaters or chimineas to keep the area chill-free.

If the weather cooperates, you can have your guests bring their bathing suits. Even though it's January, treat the day as if it were a middle of summer party, grill up some hot dogs and hamburgers, bring out the macaroni and potato salads.

Decorate the area with streamers and 2011 decor. Ask your guests to write down their New Year's resolutions then seal them in a "time capsule." You can use a glass jar and then pick a spot to bury it in the backyard and excavate it next year and see how they did!
