Pro's and Con's of guinea pigs?

Hi! I really want to get a pair of guinea pigs from a shelter. I would like to keep them in a C&C cage, because we already own grids and there is a store that sells coroplast close by. I would like 2 adult females in a 2x4 with a 1x2 loft. I have 1/3 an hour of free time in the morning to feed them and 4 or 5 hours of free time after school. I would use fleece and Zorb for bedding.

Can someone list the pro's and con's of keeping guinea pigs? I want to know so I can talk to my parents and try to convince them to let me have 2 guinea pigs. Also, can you list an estimation of how much money you spend on them in a year?

I have kept guinea-pigs for years, and they make just the best pets. If you spend lots of time with them, they become so tame and recognise you from other people, start to lick and groom you and will even come when called. Ok so the pros and cons?

Pro's
Lots of info available on them if you are unsure of anything
Can become very tame, rarely scratch or bite
They aren't a complicated pet to look after:
Don't need artificial heat
Food, bedding, flea treatments can be easily acquired from any decent supermarket or store (e.g. wilcos)
Teaches responsibility, and an understanding that they can't just be palmed off on someone else - they're YOUR pets
Cheaper to keep than many other pets
They don't require vaccinations (like rabbits) if they're kept indoors.

Con's
Require daily care
Need more space than people often think - and they should be allowed free running of a large room or garden everyday
Need to be kept with companions, or you will have a pretty miserable piggy
You can't just go away or a weekend or holiday, without making sure your piggies will be properly cared for. This can mean cost if you have to pay someone to take care of them (£3-£5 per day).

And as a pro or con:
Well looked after they can live up to 10 years (average 5-7), meaning you can have a fab pet with you for many years, but you have to make sure you can ALWAYS care for them, until their last day.
I got my first 2 when I was 13, I'm now at university and they're still with me, going strong!

Start up costs can be about £50, not including a hutch - otherwise add an extra £100 minimum. Once you have them set up, probably £8 per week so allow £400 per year, and have a contingency for possible vet bills.

The Cons Of Wind Power

Firstly, to set up a proper wind power unit, you need to spend a huge amount of money. In other words, if you are looking at a unit to power your whole house up, the initial set up can cost you a fortune. For such a windmill, the maintenance cost can also be high with the required amount of greasing and oiling of its parts.

Secondly, windmills are very noisy, which is why people prefer to set them up away from their home. The turbines in the windmills can cause interference for some of the electrical appliances in your home, like the TV, if the windmill is quite near to the building.

Another great disadvantage of windmills is that the generation of the electricity is hugely dependent on the weather. Windmills need winds blowing continuously at at least 20 miles an hour. The generation of electricity suffers when the speed of the wind goes below this mark. Moreover, stormy weather can be very harmful for the windmills. These were the cons of wind power.
