Reflective Window Film on House Question??? ?

Just bought a new home. There's a reflective film on the windows in the home, but all the reflective film is inside and faces inside the home. So anyone outside can see clearly through the window, but if your inside you can't see outside ( you'll just see a reflection of yourself). Is this the way its supposed to be? Seems silly and wrong to me! Isn't it supposed to reflect the suns rays?

No, that's wrong. My son's best friend used to install window film. The reflective side should be facing outside to reflect the heat away from the windows. You should be able to see outside with the film on. Just reflecting the heat out of the house in summer cuts down the AC usage.
