Myanmar will not allow aid workers into the country. Why don't the US & other countries just air-drop supplies

I don't understand why, since aid workers can't enter Myanmar, governments and aid groups don't just air-drop food, water, portable shelters, etc.?

Is there really a risk the planes would be shot down? If so, why has this idea and its risks not been on the news.

It seems that the plight of the victims of the cyclone is only being talked about in terms of how bad the government is. We all know how oppressive the government is. I just want to know what we can do to get help to the victims.
Many good topics here, but only a few have addressed the question: Why can't aid be air-dropped? I am sure that if crates of food and water and portable shelters were dropped the populace would grab it all as fast as it hit the ground.

And I am not suggesting the US do all this. The UN (as impotent as they usually are) could drop supplies.

If you got any friends who work for C.A.R.E , or in some voluntary disaster aid organisation. You will eventually knows why !
Air drop those massive food aid, medical aid, and suppliments are not a problem with any organisation at all. But with such action, we are not helping the victim, in fact, we are helping the juntas. Why ? Because those authorities will start trading with food aid to the victims. They will take advantage of the food aid & not helping them.
The reason those authorities not allowing aid workers to come in is the fact they wanted those food aid in the military supplies & not victims. Get that !
As in Darfur, at least there are foreign militaries to control over the illegal use of food aid, as myanmar, this case will be massive death & i expect the figure will be climbing another 100%. I will give you an expectation of an event will come !
Take note, an event of massive genocide will occurs when food aid is limited and local food ran out at alarming rate. This will happen ! The juntas will not hessitate to launch this, as this country has no respect of human rights or life at all.
I am from South East Asia living relatively near to this country, i can understand the situations gonna be ugly, well damn ugly. !
Anyhow, just lets pray for the suffers !
