how do i switch my pool cleaner from Pressure Side to suction side?

i currently have a pressure side pool cleaner. it doesnt really remove any dirt or dead algae at the bottom of my pool. it just blows it into the water. i want a suction one which will work much better and send it into the filter. can i just buy the suction side cleaner and hook it up or do i have to change everything around?
