what happens if you swim with your eyes open underwater in a chlorine Swimming Pool?

i went swimming today in a public indoor swimming pool (which as chlorine in it) and i swam alot with my eyes open, now my eyes are hurting and my eye sight is a bit blurry. are there any long term side effects of this or will it get better soon?

Chlorine is an irritant and it bothers some people more than others. I don't wear goggles underwater and I don't have a problem except a mild sting at first. The reddness should go away by tomorrow and you should not see anymore blurring. Do wear goggles in the future since you seem to be sensitive to the chlorine.
