my 2200 gallon inflatable pools water is green after the rain?

we bought a pool and shocked it, but we didnt have the chlorine or the other stuff for it, but the water was nice and balanced as of then. then it rained for about a week and we havent had a cover to put on top of it, and there is bugs and leaves and sticks in the water and it is GREEEEN.
what do i do to get the water swimmable again?
i had bought a 3 inch chlorine tablet with a floating dispenser but then i read that i should use a 1 inch instead.

but yea... just tell me how to fix the water. ;]] thanks

Most likely the water is green because of algae, chlorine and shock are your best bets. I would shock it first, then use the chlorine floater. The smaller chlorine tabs are recommended because they dissolve faster, but the three inch ones should work (I broke mine into smaller pieces using a hammer, but I don't recommend this). The one inch tablets may actually dissolve too fast as they did in my case, I would give the three inch tabs a try after shocking.
Shock raises the chlorine levels very quickly, but it also fades fast, you need to use tablets to maintain the chlorine level.
