2 yr old horse who is afraid of the hose?? big problem when tryin to sell?

I have a 2 yr old horse who is traumatized of a hose just taking the hose to his stall to fill his water bucket makes him back into the corner and snort till i'm done filling it he's perfectly fine if u was his tail using a bucket of water but bring the hose into the pic and he's gone we brought other horses out w/ him to show him its ok we've taken the nozzle off and had it just drip on him he hates it he'll let you fly spray him so it's not he;s afraid of liquids. any helpful ways to calm him of the hose?? and its not the hose that scares him i can drag it all around him and he doesn't care its just when the water comes out that scares him

Here is what to do: get a short piece of hose (2 feet or so) and hang it by his food bucket. If he wants to eat (which I am sure will happen) he will have to get over his fear of the hose. Most horses get over something scary by their food bucket quickly, the longest I have seen is 3 hrs of waiting to eat before giving in.

After he is fine with that, tie him to a strong pole and give him a very wet sponge bath, letting it drip all over the place (see if it is the water or the hose that bugs him). Make him sit there until he calms down. Try it again, then wait until he calms down. Only try twice is he is very afraid. Do not punish him for trying to get away, just ignore it.

If he is fine with looking at the hose and the water dripping from the sponge bath, try the hose next. Start at his back end (most horses are the most comfortable with it here) and have it on a mist or shower setting. Then spray him for a couple seconds. do not yell if he moves because he will associate that with the hose.
Wait until he calms down and then give him a treat. Enough for that session, try it again later. The important part is to show complete confidence and not let him acting up get to you. Once he realizes that the hose is not going to hurt him and that he can't escape it by acting up, he will quit and give in. This has worked with almost every horse we have tried it on, except for a mare that went into panic mode and shut her whole brain off when scared (still is considered dangerous to ride- if she spooks, nothing you can do will stop her until she stops on her own).
