I have a concrete in ground pool with a vinyl liner. Drain or not to drain?

It wasn't covered after last summer. It is a mess.Can it be drained? There are bugs, dead frogs, worms, leaves, muck and who knows what else in it. There is also so much build up at the bottom of the pool. It would take a month to clean out before using the pump.I don't know if it would be sanitary to even try and salvage the water. The liner is about 2 to 3 years old. help please

Put on your waders and get a good pump.
You are going to have to drain this mess for it to be safe for humans.
Unless you are going to do biology experiments in your backyard???
I did this for a friend a few years ago. If you have concrete sides...you're good. It won't cave in on you unless the concrete has failed.
Do you have water between the liner and the concrete? If so, you're screwed. Need to have it rebuilt.
If not, you're safe.
I'm a little bit more secure than most dealing with this because I grew up with a swamp across the street. A most interesting environment.
However, suck as much of the nasty crap out of the pool. Do whatever you must with whatever is living there.
When you re-fill the pool do a 'shock' treatment (quadruple the amount of chlorine you usually put in. Don't let any in the pool until the chlorine level has returned to normal levels.
